Overview

The Build Health AI using Digital India Rails track invites teams to explore how artificial intelligence can be built on top of India’s broader digital ecosystem to solve real healthcare problems.

This track is intentionally open-ended. It is designed for builders who want to combine AI with open-source APIs, interoperable platforms, shared data sources, and scalable digital infrastructure to create solutions that are practical, extensible, and relevant to the Indian healthcare context.

Problem Statement

Teams are free to define their own problem statements, provided the solution:

• Addresses a clear healthcare need
• Uses AI as a core capability
• Demonstrates alignment with India’s digital ecosystem through interoperable design, open standards, or scalable system thinking

The emphasis is on thoughtful problem selection and grounded execution, not abstract experimentation.

What You Are Expected to Build

Teams should deliver a working prototype or product demo that demonstrates:

• A clear healthcare use case and target user
• Meaningful application of AI (for example, decision support, automation, summarisation, prediction, or workflow augmentation)
• Use of, or alignment with, open digital rails such as open-source APIs, interoperable platforms, common data standards, or shared digital infrastructure
• A coherent product flow that shows how the solution would be used in the real world

Prototypes do not need to be production-ready, but they must be functional, demonstrable, and clearly explained.

• Maximum team size: 5 members
• Open to:

  • Research organisations
  • Students
  • Independent builders

There are no restrictions on background or affiliation, as long as the team can build and demonstrate a working prototype.
